Quality Not Quantity as Bexley Beaumont Singled Out for Success

Bexley Beaumont has reiterated its commitment to service and standards after garnering more praise for its impact on the legal industry.

The firm has been singled out by the professional consultancy PwC at an event examining the fortunes of some of the UK's most dynamic law practices.

The seminar saw Bexley Beaumont ranked first for growth of all firms outside the country's biggest 50 legal brands and hailed for having a business plan likely to deliver further success.

It follows the firm's topping a study by Codex Edge, a specialist legal market research company, which found that Bexley Beaumont's partner ranks across all its service areas grew by 60 per cent during 2024.

However, Bexley Beaumont's co-founder and Chief Executive, Karen Bexley, insisted that "quality not quantity" was most important.

"Ours is not a story of growth for its own sake. Instead, our expansion is a reflection of the breadth of the services which we offer and the calibre of the partners who we have been able to attract.

"From the start, we have only wanted experienced, ambitious individuals wishing to develop their careers by working with some truly remarkable clients and in collaboration with very capable colleagues.

"The culture which we have put in place is another essential thread. Rather than simply hiring the many lawyers who can see the advantages of what we're doing, we believe that it is best to recruit those people who best fit the approach which we have adopted.

"As the PwC event identified all too well, fortunes and fashions change within the legal industry.

"We don't think, however, that the culture of a firm should vary over time. By staying true to our original vision, we are already being recognised by lawyers and clients alike.

"That consistency is an integral part of who we are and we feel it will deliver both longevity and success."

Ms Bexley was speaking after PwC's analysis of firms in the domestic legal industry were trying to generate growth.

Against the backdrop of 541 law practices closing in the 12 months to February last year, PwC described how it expected to see more consolidation.

Nevertheless, it found that certain firms were thriving. Bexley Beaumont's partner numbers, for instance, increased by 365 per cent in the four years following its 2020 launch.

PwC said that impressive record was due to the firm having "a clear plan for its direction of travel".

Bexley Beaumont has begun 2025 as it ended the previous year by recruiting four more senior lawyers.

The new arrivals include Corporate partner Ian Brent and Corporate Restructuring partner Chris Ali. Emily Carey and Nicola Wood have also both joined the fast-growing boutique firm's Real Estate team.

The quartet of appointments mean that Bexley Beaumont now has a total of 74 partners across the country.

They also coincide with Bexley Beaumont garnering more recognition of its progress.

It has been named as one of the joint winners in the UK Business of the Year category at the International Brilliance Awards in London.

The title was one of eight claimed by those organisations considered by judges to "have made significant contributions in their fields, demonstrating leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence".
