Bexley Beaumont Starts Year on High with Appointment of South East Lawyer

Bexley Beaumont has outlined plans for further expansion in London and the South East over the next 12 months after announcing the recruitment of another senior lawyer.

The appointment of Kent-based Commercial Real Estate Partner Emily Carey means that the award-winning firm now has 73 partners in total despite only launching five years ago.

That progress recently resulted in Bexley Beaumont being named by as the fastest growing legal firm outside the UK's top 100 practices based on lawyer recruitment.

A study by Codex Edge, a specialist legal market research company, found that Bexley Beaumont's partner ranks had grown by 60 per cent during 2024.

Bexley Beaumont's co-founder and Chief Executive, Karen Bexley, said Emily's arrival provided evidence of the firm's ambitions in the South East and the continuing appeal of its unique operating model.

"Having Emily join us shows how really experienced and highly thought-of lawyers in this region appreciate that what we have established can help them develop their practices and provide clients with exceptional service.

"Even though we intend to expand our operations, ours is not simply a story of growth for the sake of it.

"We will continue to welcome talented individuals and give them the support which allows them to do their job, as well as collaborating effectively with colleagues specialising in other legal disciplines.

"We have already seen that giving partners greater control over how and with whom they work, while maintaining a central structure embodying the very best standards associated with traditional firms, really is a recipe for success.

"It is quite distinct from what other firms are able to offer but the interest which has been expressed by other lawyers in the South East and elsewhere across the country demonstrates that we are very much on the right track."

Ms Carey has worked both in-house and in private practice in the UK and France on behalf of businesses in London and the South East, professional landlords, multi-national organisations and private landowners.

In addition to her focus on commercial real estate, she has handled listings on both Nasdaq and Euronext, software licensing and share options as well as commercial acquisitions and corporate compliance over the course of her 35-year career.

Emily is the latest addition to Bexley Beaumont's rapidly expanding Real Estate team.

It now comprises 26 partners specialising in both contentious and non-contentious real estate and has grown by more than one-fifth over the course of the last year.

Her appointments also coincides with Bexley Beaumont garnering yet more recognition.

It has been named as one of the joint winners in the UK Business of the Year category at the International Brilliance Awards in London.

The title was one of eight claimed by those organisations considered by judges to "have made significant contributions in their fields, demonstrating leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence".
