Peter is a Tax Partner with over 30 years’ experience gained both in private practice and as an in-house legal counsel.
He gained a Master’s degree (LLM) in Revenue Law from London University (LSE) in 1989. He advises listed and unlisted companies, investors, trustees, partnerships, pension funds, co-operatives and registered social landlords on corporate and property transactions.
Peter has been a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) for over 25 years and is well placed to advise family companies and their shareholders on a range of issues including succession planning, growth and exit strategies.
His experience with listed companies includes advising two US Fortune 500 clients on many UK acquisitions, including the UK tax aspects of a USD 1.7 billion acquisition.
Peter is a former lecturer in Revenue Law at the University of Manchester and has delivered a range of continuing professional development seminars to solicitors and accountants. Peter is currently an Honorary BPP Visiting Professor of Law.
The Legal 500 has described Peter as “popular” and as having a “good reputation”, and Chambers described him as being known for his “technical expertise”, prior to Peter deciding to accept an offer to move out of private practice a number of years ago.
He is a longstanding member of the Institute of Directors and gained valuable experience in both executive and non-executive director roles in the housebuilding, property development, healthcare, medical communications and transport sectors.
Peter is adept at understanding and helping clients to achieve their commercial and financial objectives. He adopts a proactive approach to helping clients avoid or resolve disputes, having been a CEDR accredited mediator since 2013.
Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music and watching football.
